New Artist Collective

UK New Artists, Lincoln 2022-23

From November 2022 to October 2023, I was part of UK New Artists New Artist Collective; a cross-disciplinary group of artists within the first 10 years of professional practice, from all artforms, across the UK. Each artist in the cohort received a bursary along with opportunities to present and create new work, and work deeply in the place through micro-residencies exploring themes and creating connectivity.

Rurality Residency

In June 2023, I took part in a residency on the theme of ‘Rurality’ in Mablethorpe. The residency was an opportunity to explore the collaborative process through workshops with writer Sonya Hundal in connection with the rural, seaside landscape of the English east coast, culminating in a presentation at So Festival in Skegness.

Soft Egg, Don’t Wear It

Group exhibition at The Salthouse, Lincoln, 2023

To end the year, the group from the Mablethorpe residency, consisting of Emelia Kerr Beale, Johan Beavis-Berry, Jack Boal, Ronnie Danaher, Alice Hackney, and Oliver Ventress, created this collaborative group show at The Salthouse in Lincoln. A mix of visual art, sound installation, film and live performance, 'Soft Egg, Don't Wear It' was a culmination of our time together in Mablethorpe as collaborators in June 2023. We had an immediate personal connection with the area and were interested in the people of rural spaces; how they interact with it - building character and narrative, having conversations with people. Specifically observing the relationship between the beach and the town and themes of Time, Memory and Loss.
